Afternoon Practicum:

All attendees will be divided into two groups and will participate in both laboratory sessions.

  1. Testing of the Knee Joint. Faculty from the Touro University Nevada Department of Primary Care (David Park, DO, Chair) will teach procedures for examining the knee in patients.

  2. Total Knee Replacement. Board certified orthopedic surgeons, under the guidance of Michael Crovetti, DO, will work with participants to perform total knee replacements on fresh cadaver knees (provided by the State of Maryland Anatomical Board - thanks to Ronn Wade). We anticipate 3-5 participants per knee, depending on registration.

Participants are asked to bring (or wear) scrub suits and closed toed shoes. We will provide disposable gowns, gloves, and all instruments necessary for the laboratory procedures.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Transportation (by bus) from the hotel to the venue will be provided.

At the end of the Postgraduate course, each participant will receive a CD or DVD containing all the lecture and handout materials and a copy of the video of the demonstration knee replacement surgery.

We will be able to register a maximum of 80 attendees.
